ECNL FLORIDA NATIONAL EVENT WRAP-UP

The Penn Fusion U15, U16, U17, and U18 ECNL teams headed down to Sanford, Florida from December 28 to December 30th for their first ECNL National Event of the 2014/2015 season.  With only three conference games under their belt, the event was a great preparation for the important Spring season.  Here is a look at how the teams fared.

U15 ECNL

The girls were excited to be at their first ECNL National Event.  They arrived on Saturday and got a training session in before the event started.  They beat Internationals SC 4-1 on day one of the competition and then had a well fought second game which ended 0-1 vs West Florida in extra time.   On the last day of competition they faced nationally ranked Concorde Fire and lost 1-3.  Coach Mueller was pleased with how the girls played at the event and noted that there were several top level D1 college coaches in attendance at their games.

U16 ECNL

The U16 ECNL team, currently ranked 20th by Topdrawersoccer had a tough schedule facing three of the top teams in the country.  They started play with a 1-1 draw against Solar Chelsea SC and a 1-1 draw vs. West Coast SC.  The team played extremely well and went into their third game to face Charlotte Soccer Academy where they played to a 0-2 loss.  Coach Scangarella thought that the 1-1 tie vs. West coast was the highlight of the event and was very proud of how well the team played.

U17 ECNL

The girls of the U17 ECNL team went 3-0 on the weekend and never conceded a goal.  They started the event with a 2-0 win against Minnesota Thunder and then a 3-0 win over Solar Chelsea.  They finished the event with a 2-0 win over Sporting Blue and earned 9 valuable points to sit atop the ECNL Sanford National Event table.

U18 ECNL

It was bitter sweet for the U18 girls as they participated in their last ECNL event before heading off to college.  The team opened their play against Indian Fire Juniors where they lost 1-3.  They then faced Internationals SC where they lost a close 1-2 game.  The team faced Ohio Elite in their last National Event and lost 1-3. The team used the event to showcase their talents for college coaches before their official commitments in February.
